(SPOT.ph) There's a lot that went down during the inauguration of Joe Biden as the 46th U.S. president on January 20, 2021. It was historic, vindicating (depending on where you stand), and more (or less) importantly, the time for absolutely killer 'fits. There was Vice President Kamala Harris and FLOTUS Jill Biden in cool-toned coats, former First Lady Michelle Obama coming to slay in a sleek, burgundy powersuit—and that cinch—yet somehow, all eyes are on Vermont senator Bernie Sanders' incredibly understated, elderly-grandfather-running-an-errand get-up. And TBH, this moment needs to be discussed.

Power suits are all about subversion—and Sanders' outfit is about as subversive as you can get, in the wholesome kind of way. In a sea of powerful people dressed accordingly, Sanders' chose to pair his black suit with a jacket and, the real star of the show, those mittens. The jacket, BTW, looks to be from Vermont-based brand Burton and might just be the same one he wore for the memed-like-crazy "I am once again asking" clip. But we need to focus on those cozy looking mittens!
