Single or Taken, This Cake Will Make Your V-Day Sweeter

(SPOT.ph) Perhaps for its red color and (somewhat) heart-like appearance, no fruit better evokes the season of love than strawberries—and we're not complaining! Its tart-but-sweet flavor works in just about any format—cakes and ice cream, especially. If you can't choose between cake or ice cream, you're in for a treat: local ice-cream brand Sebastian's is coming out with the Strawberry Cream Ice Cream Cake for the month of February!

If you like tart and creamy desserts, this one's made for you.

The Strawberry Cream Ice Cream Cake (P1,650/nine-inch cake) has layers of  freshly-baked spice cake, sweet cream ice cream, strawberry sorbet, an oat streusel, and white chocolate. You get tartness from the sorbet, creaminess from the ice cream and white chocolate, butteriness from the streusel, and a welcome touch of spice from the cake layers! This is the kind of dessert where you'll want to get a little of every layer to fully experience the harmony of flavors from its different components.

Check out those layers!

As Sebastian's does every year, they're also bringing back their special Valentine's ice cream flavors taking after the different stages of real-life relationships. While the names stay the same every year, the flavors themselves for (three out of the four variants) are different. This year's Matinong Boyfriend (P145/scoop, P435/pint) has a white cocoa ice-cream base (made by steeping a cream base in roasted cocoa nibs for two days!), a blueberry-sorbet ribbon, and an almond-praline crumble for a subtle crunch. The Matinong Girlfriend (P145/scoop, P435/pint), on the other hand, is for serious nut fans—it's got a nut-butter ice cream base (made with a mix of cashews, walnuts, pecans, almonds, pili nuts, macadamia nuts, brazil nuts, and hazelnuts!) and ribbons of thick butter caramel, plus Swedish-style candied nuts on top.

Don't be fooled by the light-colored base on the Matinong Boyfriend—it's actually got an intriguing, subtly-chocolatey flavor!

Looking for a flavor that evokes the zen emotions of finally concluding a relationship? The Closure (P145/scoop, P435/pint) is for you—this year's version is infused with noon chai and is as smooth and soothing as it gets. And a returning, erm, favorite is the Unresolved Issues (P100/scoop, P300/pint), Sebastian's own ampalaya sorbet, which—as with actual unresolved issues—is intentionally bitter (though not overpoweringly so, we must say; it's actually refreshingly earthy), and is garnished with more candied ampalaya on top.
