(SPOT.ph) Makati Shangri-La announced that it would be temporarily closing on February 1, 2021, in a statement released today, January 20.

"As part of the reorganization exercise, we will sadly be parting ways with a number of colleagues and we will be temporarily closing Makati Shangri-La, Manila," a company spokesperson said in a statement that was sent to SPOT.ph.

"Owing to continued low business levels and having considered all viable options over weeks of consideration and deliberation, we unfortunately must now make the extremely difficult decision to reorganise our workforce and operations in the Philippines as we continue to navigate an uncertain business environment."

"We continue to vigilantly monitor local and global developments and look forward to reopening Makati Shangri-La, Manila at a later date when business conditions have improved."

Makati Shangri-La opened its doors in August 1993. It is a five-star hotel in the Makati central business district and is within walking distance to some of the biggest shopping malls in the Metro, making the property a popular accommodation for tourists and business travelers alike.
