LOOK: The Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge Is Shaping Up

Some welcome news for motorists in the Metro: The Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge renovation project is nearing completion!

The two halves of the bridge are coming together! Picture posted by the DPWH on January 6.

The Department of Public Works and Highways declared the bridge 72% complete on January 6—adding that the project is slated to open sometime during the second quarter of 2021 (yup, this year!). It was originally supposed to be complete by December 2020 but hey, at least we have more major infrastructure to look forward too this year! Squint a bit with us when we offer this silver lining.

The project will result in the expansion of the Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge—also known as the Rockwell Bridge—into a two-way, four-lane bridge expected to serve 1.3 million vehicles daily.

The bridge will span 506.46 meters long and 21.65 meters wide, with three-meter sidewalks on both sides. It will connect Estrella Street in Makati City and Barangka Drive in Mandaluyong City.

It's taking longer than expected, but frankly, we're just looking forward to seeing both sides of this bridge connect. After all, all infrastructure projects did face several delays due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. Hopefully, projects like this bridge and the BGC-Ortigas Center Link Road Project will greatly improve traffic in their respective areas once completed and fully operational.
