Here's a Complete List of Accredited Staycation Hotels in Manila

(SPOT.ph) Hotels and resorts all over the Philippines took a huge hit when the quarantine was announced in March. While some regions are slowly recovering and already accepting tourists, accommodations in the Metro are still easing into opening their doors. The Department of Tourism on January 5 reiterated that they have only approved 15 Metro Manila hotels to accept guests for leisure purposes (a.k.a. staycation).

These are the accredited accommodation establishments with a "Certificate of Authority to Operate as Staycation" from the tourism agency as of January 5:

  • Grand Hyatt Hotel
  • Makati Shangri-La Hotel
  • Okada Manila Hotel
  • Shangri-La at the Fort
  • Nobu Hotel
  • Joy Nostalg Hotel and Suites Manila
  • EDSA Shangri-La Manila
  • Solaire Resort
  • Hyatt Regency City of Dreams
  • Nuwa Hotel City of Dreams
  • The Peninsula Manila
  • Aruga by Rockwell
  • Sheraton Manila Hotel
  • Hilton Manila
  • Hotel Okura Manila

"We would like to correct the misperception that all four- or five-star rated accommodation establishments (AEs) can operate as staycation hotels. For such hotel to accept guests for leisure purposes, it has to apply for a Certificate of Authority to Operate as Staycation (CAOS) hotel. With the authority is the responsibility to strictly adhere to the minimum health and safety guidelines. One has to pass the rigid inspection to ascertain that measures and systems are put in place and diligently practiced on a daily basis. It cannot, above all things, concurrently operate as a quarantine facility," Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said in a press release.

The DOT also released "new normal" protocols for accommodation establishments:

  • Health Declaration Form (including a negative antigen test result)
  • Wearing of face masks
  • Sanitizing mats
  • Temperature screening
  • Floor markers
  • Physical distancing, hand hygiene, and respiratory etiquette
  • Provision of reminder cards on the prevailing disease, and policies enforced by the establishment
  • No showing of guests around the room after check-in
  • Only single or double occupancy rooms can be operational, with a maximum occupancy of two people from the same household

On the other hand, the Department of Health is also inspecting accommodations for either mandatory quarantine or stringent quarantine. As of December 22, there are 228 facilities suitable only for mandatory quarantine including Victoria Court branches, Gran Prix Hotel in Pasay and Cubao, Shangri-La Residences, Fersal Hotel in P. Tuazon and Kalayaan, Eurotel in North EDSA and Cubao, and B Hotel in Alabang. Facilities suitable for stringent quarantine, which are also approved for mandatory quarantine, are now at 128. Some of these places are Go Hotels, Privato Hotel in Makati and Quezon City, Seda BGC, and Seda Vertis North.

AEs operating as quarantine facilities are banned from accepting guests for leisure purposes. It is best to check the Department of Health's Bureau of Quarantine website for a complete list of quarantine facilities.
