This quaint coffee shop in Quezon City has a clean, bright look that makes it a relaxing place to be whether you’re looking to study, doodle, or just take IG-worthy photos of your coffee. It’s also one of those rare places that hits that sweet spot between catering to both the budding coffee enthusiast and the serious coffee head, with specialty brews that can be had in one-of-a-kind playful forms. For example, there’s the Butterball (starts at P150) that comes with butterball-infused milk for pouring over coffee ice cubes, as well as the marshmallow-topped Toasty (P180) that might remind you of S’mores.

Kale Cafe + Restaurant
Kale Cafe + Restaurant may very well be Fairview’s best-kept secret. Decked in soothing shades of white and gray with touches of warm wood, it’s the kind of place that pretty much spells chill. There’s plenty of natural light, too, which adds to the lively yet relaxed mood. Aside from coffee, you can also get great savory dishes here—think Torched Salmon Donburi (P275) and Baked Salted Egg Penne (P229).

Bad Café
This spot in Makati evokes the minimalist look of Japanese cafés, with varying shades of gray on the walls and chairs made of wood. You’ll find great cups of joe here, using specialty-grade coffee beans from local roasters, but their savory dishes and desserts are well worth trying, too—we’re huge fans of their Fried Chicken + Mac ’n Cheese (P450) and Calamansi Pie (P190).

Latitude Bean + Bar
Located in a residential area in Malate, Latitude Bean + Bar goes for a sleek look that’s at once serene but elegant with its aegean-blue walls, wooden fixtures, and eyecatching grid-like display on one of the walls. They take their coffee game seriously here—you’ll spot a La Marzocco machine on the counter, and they employ Brazil-Vietnam beans for their cups of joe. You can get everything from the basic Long Black (P115/hot, P125/iced), manual brews using the V60 and Aeropress (starts at P145/hot), and non-coffee drinks like the Frozen Hot Chocolate (P165).

% Arabica’s newest branch at 257 McKinley was designed in collaboration with German architect Alexis Dornier—and it’s a haven for lovers of the minimalist aesthetic. With a mostly-white backdrop and plenty of glass windows to let the light in, it’s as cozy as it is cool and especially easy on the eyes. Plus, their ampitheater-style seating area is totally IG-worthy.

Firefly Coffee

Formerly a coffee stall at De La Salle University, Firefly Coffee is the place to be when you’re looking to hang out somewhere that's more on the dim and brooding end of the ambience spectrum. You’ll want to snap photos of their signature line-art mural while trying out their specialty coffee drinks, which include the Dirty White (P150) and Firefly Cold Brew (P170).

Group & Boiler Coffee Co.
When in the South and looking for a laid-back place to chill away on a lazy afternoon, check out Group & Boiler Coffee Co. Its clean colors make it a great place to hang out any time of the day, and you’ll want to take photos of the quirky decor—including a vintage fan and a bicycle hung on one of the walls! Their coffee lineup includes straightforward, espresso-based cups of joe as well as coffee cocktails if you're looking to add a bit of a skip to your step.

Blocleaf Café
This hidden gem in Malate has the kind of zen, minimalist look that almost looks like it came straight out of an issue of Kinfolk. Tiny as it is, it’s as cozy as can be, with plenty of wooden touches and foliage that make for an ever-so-laid back mood. Given its coziness, it’s the perfect place to visit if you’re by yourself and want to savor the lone-dining experience while sipping on a well-made cup of joe.
