WATCH: Mikhail Red's New Thriller Arisaka Is Giving Us a Major Adrenaline Rush

(SPOT.ph) Finally. A teaser for Arisaka, acclaimed director Mikhail Red's upcoming feature, has dropped! Red and main lead Maja Salvador have been dropping little glimpses of the action-packed film all over social media for the past full months. Now, we have our first real look. Production company TEN17P dropped the suspenseful teaser on their YouTube channel on December 4; check it out below.

Anyone else getting Birdshot feels? The high-stakes feel paired with a completely dialogue-free teaser has us hooked. Salvador plays a policewoman on the run—we think that might have been a betrayal-slash-ambush at the start? Her path leads her on the same trail American and Filipino soldiers took during World War II: the historic Bataan Death March. Right at her heels is the very threatening character of Mon Confiado. Who's bad? Who's good? What's with the kid with the afro? Also, was that a corpse? So many questions.

Filming was done amid the quarantine, so you can expect a lot of restrictions. "The shoot was indeed challenging because we all had to adjust to the new protocols to ensure safety of all the cast and crew," Red told Variety. "We also had to film with limited working hours while quarantined on remote locations." The team also had to make it through several typhoons, as the director pointed out on Instagram.

Red also thanked Salvador on IG. "This year, many around the world faced their own struggles and uncertainty," Red said in the Variety article. "It almost feels like a miracle to finish a film in 2020 and it is a privilege to get to tell stories in times like these. I hope our film’s message of finding our shared humanity while uniting to overcome adversity and oppression resonates well. I hope our hard work finds its audience."

While there's no official release date yet, the team hopes to premiere globally in 2021 through an international festival. Fingers crossed we get to see it soon, too!
