(SPOT.ph) Batangas, like Tagaytay and Laguna, is a popular destination for impromptu weekend getaways—especially if you feel like dropping everything for some fun in the sand. It has a variety of beach strips: Laiya in San Juan for those who are looking a laid-back beach getaway, Mabini for scuba divers and freedivers, and Nasugbu for couples and families who'd rather stay at resort. Aside from these spots, Batangas has under-the-radar coves that are waiting to be explored.
Papaya Cove, which is about 20 minutes from the port, is a budget-friendly strip with glamping options and camping sites. You can check in at Limbones Happy Camp, which opened in March. It has glamping tents from P1,500 (two to four people) to P2,500 (five to six people). This includes complete beddings, pillows, bean bags outside your room, and table and chairs. You can also rent a tent for P400 or pitch your own for P100.

From Papaya Cove, you can go on an island-hopping adventure to Mother Elephant Cove, Baby Elephant Cove, Taytayin Cove, and Santelmo Cove. The latter is a marine sanctuary, where you can go snorkeling and see schools of fish, giant clams with paarls, and colorful corals. Taytayin Cove, on the other hand, is a popular stop for cliff jumping.
Limbones Happy Camp is in Papaya Cove, Nasugbu, Batangas. Glamping rates start at P1,500. For more information, follow Limbones Island, Papaya Beach Resort on Facebook.
How to get there: Travel by land for about three hours via the Nasugbu-Ternate Highway. Drive past Kaybiang Tunnel and get off at the quarry in Barangay Patungan. Ride a boat for about 20 minutes to Papaya Cove. You can also ride a bus bound for Nasugbu.
