This New Fried Lobster Dish Is the Stuff of Dreams

(SPOT.ph) There's no shortage of Chinese restaurants in Metro Manila—whether you're in the mood for no-frills, straightforward dim sum from a streetside eatery or are looking to treat yourself to a Peking duck dinner with the works, you'd find a place that's likely to tick all the important boxes. One of those places is Xin Tian Di, which has made a name for itself for serving good, hearty Chinese food made with top-notch ingredients since it opened in 2004.

This December, after a months-long renovation, the restaurant has reopened their doors at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria with a fresh new look. Aside from bringing back their signatures like the Deep-Fried Crispy Stuffed Crab Shell with Taro Crust (P380/piece) and Seafood and Hot Prawn Salad (starts at P1,680/small), Executive Chef Peter Yeung has crafted up new dishes that you'll want to try on your next visit.

Seafood fans, you're in for a treat with the Fried Lobster with Butter, Salted Egg, and Golden Garlic (P2,400). It might remind you of salted-egg prawns with the salted-egg plus seafood combo, but we're talking lobster here, which immediately makes it ten times more glorious. If you prefer meat, go for the Pan-fried Wagyu Beef Striploin with Black Pepper Soya (P1,800), which is anything but your usual stir-fry with its use of Wagyu. There's also the sweet-and-sour Stir-fried Spain Iberico Pork Loin with Chinese Vinegar and Honey (P1,100), which is perfect with lots of steaming hot rice!

Yes, you need the Fried Lobster with Butter, Salted Egg, and Golden Garlic in your life!

Yeung was born and raised in Hong Kong, and learned most of his knowledge of modern Cantonese cuisine in the country. Having lived in the Philippines for over two decades, he gives his dishes ingenious twists to best please the Filipino taste buds. "The Philippines has a lot to offer, and being an archipelago, the Philippines boasts of different kinds of seafood [which are some] of the freshest of its kind," says Yeung in an interview with Spot.ph.

Aside from offering new dishes, the newly-reopened Xin Tian Di now sports a new look with that's brighter and more vibrant, employing traditional and modern elements. "There are accents of graphic murals and blue pottery to give you Instagram-worthy photos," Xin Tian Di shares with us.  More crucially, they're implementing all the necessary measures to ensure you get to dine safely, including a no-mask, no-entry policy, temperature checks, physical distancing, contract tracing, sterilization of cutleries, and sanitization of tables and chairs after use.

After feasting on Chinese eats, you'll probably want a sweet ending to your meal—for which we recommend Mama Cha's Milk Panna Cotta bottled drinks. They come in flavors like Milk Tea & Vanilla Panna Cotta, Fresh Strawberry Milk & Vanilla Panna Cotta, Cereal Milk & Earl Grey Panna Cotta, and Matcha Milk & Espresso Panna Cotta!
