These Breathtaking Island Resorts Are Now Open

(SPOT.ph) While the risk of catching COVID-19 still looms, there are those who would want to finally stretch their legs, bask under the sun, and feel the sand on their feet. A number of island resorts in the Philippines have reopened, guaranteeing safety for travelers through chartered flights, limited capacity, and travel bubbles.

Sumilon Island, a 24-hectare coral island off the coast of Oslob in southern Cebu, is known for its white-sand beaches, a sandbar that changes shape depending on the tide and season, and a natural lagoon filled with mangroves. It reopened to local residents on June 4, while the rest of Cebu started welcoming tourists from all over the Philippines on November 20. Overnight rates are inclusive of breakfast, airport transfers from Mactan Airport and/or Dumaguete Airport, boat transfers from Bancogon to Sumilon Island, 15% off on food and beverage, and 20% off on spa services. Guests also have access to island activities like fishing at the lagoon, trekking, kayaking, and pedal boating.

El Nido Resorts - Miniloc, Pangulasian, or Lagen

Three of the four island resorts of El Nido Resorts, namely: Miniloc Island, Pangulasian Island, and Lagen Island, are implementing three-night travel bubbles for the time being. You can book your stay on any of the fixed dates published regularly on their website. Travel packages include an RT-PCR test, chartered flights via AirSwift, full-board meals, island-hopping on a private speedboat, special meals on private islands, and use of kayaks and paddleboards.

Balesin Island Club, which is open only to members and their guests, requires antigen testing from Aegle Wellness Center - Makati within 10 days of travel. The 500-hectare tropical paradise boasts 7.3 kilometers of whte sand, spacious villas, and countless activities like windsurfing, scuba diving, and horseback riding. Membership at Balesin Island Club is at least P2.5 million, exclusive of monthly membership dues. This membership status is inclusive of free stay for seven nights.

Amanpulo

There's no other way to reach Amanpulo in the Cuyo Archipelago, northeast of mainland Palawan, aside from a private plane, ensuring guests of exclusivity in this island retreat. Their casitas are also situated far from each other—some are along the white-sand beach, others are elevated by the hillside, while a few more are hidden by the rainforest canopy. They offer a minimum stay of two nights for at least P106,000 during peak season (January 11 to May 16, 2021), and P84,000 from May 17 to December 21, 2021. Deals include accommodation in a casita with daily breakfast for two and either a one-time lunch or a one-time massage. Set meals are at P9,500 per head.

Sunlight Ecotourism Island Resort offers three-night island getaways, which is inclusive of roundtrip chartered flights via Sunlight Air from Manila to Busuanga Airport, roundtrip land and boat transfers to the private island, daily breakfast, one-time spa treatment, one-time lunch or dinner by the beach, and a 4,000-peso food voucher. You can choose to stay at their Studio Villa for P40,000 per person; Two-Bedroom Villa for P42,500; and Sirakan Villa for P52,250. All villas are on stilts by the water.
