(SPOT.ph) If you're a dedicated follower of Pantone's annual release for Color of the Year, we're sure you've been wondering what they've had in store for 2021 after a rather, er, bleak 2020 (to say the least). Following 2018's Ultra Violet, 2019's Living Coral, and 2020's Classic Blue comes two colors that are a perfect depiction of our mood going into the New Year: Pantone's 2021 Colors of the Year are Illuminating and Ultimate Gray!
Yup, yellow and gray—feels pretty apt, doesn't it? According to Pantone, the sunshine shade known as Illuminating is "a bright and cheerful yellow sparkling with vivacity" while Ultimate Gray is "emblematic of solid and dependable elements which are everlasting and provide a firm foundation." The mix of the two shades combines both our hopefulness for the New Year with the solemn understanding of the tragedies we've lived through this past year as well an appreciation for the stability of the things that have remained constant. It's a surprising color combo, but one that represents feelings you probably had all along, but didn't know quite how to express.
