Nutella Bibingka Is a Thing-Here's Where You Can Try It

(SPOT.ph) Here in the Philippines, Christmas isn't complete without you having your fair share of puto bumbong and bibingka. We'll always love their signature nutty and salty-sweet flavors, respectively—but if you're open-minded, or are just looking for a new way to enjoy the said kakanin, we've got a suggestion for you. Nutella is bringing back their All-Day Breakfast Truck, and for this year, they've partnered up with Via Mare to bring you puto bumbong and bibingka with Nutella!

Would you try Nutella on puto bumbong...

The Nutella All-Day Breakfast Truck is a food truck that will be stationed in different areas in and around the Metro on different dates. On December 17, they'll be at Town and Country Executive Village in Rizal before moving to Forbes Town in BGC on December 18. Finally, from December 19 to 20, they'll be at Eastwood Mall Open Park in Quezon City. You can get the Puto Bumbong with Bibingka for P110 and the Bibingka with Nutella for P180—and if you can't head out, you can also get these kakanin delivered by ordering through Via Mare's website.

Keep an eye out for this food truck!

"We want Filipinos to wake up happy and breakfast is a big factor, so we want to add something new to their traditional breakfast fare by introducing new pairings," says Nutella's Regional Marketing Head Cheryl Que. "We are starting off this Christmas season with bibingka and puto bumbong, and soon we will be going around the Philippines to make more interesting pairings that will incorporate the regional Filipino culture."

Unusual as the pairings are—Nutella, after all, has a rich and chocolatey flavor that you might not associate with Filipino rice cakes—you've got to admit they do make you curious. To that, we say don't knock them before you try them! You might just discover your new favorite way to enjoy kakanin. We're especially intrigued by the Nutella-bibingka pairing—in part because ICYMI, Via Mare's bibingka is one of our absolute favorites in Manila; and in part because if the champorado-tuyo tandem is anything to go by, chocolate + salty elements can taste irresistible together.

And if you find yourself looking for a rich drink to pair with these Filipino rice cakes, or you just need more chocolate in your life (#same), why not go for hot chocolate? Our favorites in Manila include the versions by Xocolat as well as Café Mary Grace; the former is known for its ultra-thick consistency, while the latter has a rich and robust flavor we can't get enough of!
