"Coronavirus" Isn't the Top Google Search in the Philippines for 2020

(SPOT.ph) Believe it or not, 2020 is almost over. Most of the year was spent at home, in front of our laptops, and probably on Google. Since we can't really go anywhere, we searched for DIYs and kitchen hacks, looked for the best restaurants to have food delivered, read up on COVID-19, and entertained ourselves with random information online. And because Google knows everything, they've rounded up the top search trends among Pinoys in 2020.

"US Election 2020" topped the overall trending searches as well as the news category. The Biden-versus-Trump showdown was a nail-biting event that lasted for days, well until the United States declared the win of the Democrat party. "NBA score" came in second. And "coronavirus," which has so far killed more than 8,000 Filipinos, is only the third most-searched topic on Google.

In the news category, "coronavirus" and "Taal Volcano" are at the second and third place, respectively. "Typhoon Ulysses," which hit the Philippines in November, is the 10th most-searched news item in the country.

"How to make dalgona coffee?" is most searched in the how-tos, more than "How to wear a surgical mask?" (second place), "How to boost the immune system?" (fourth place), and "How to prevent COVID-19?" (10th place).
