"Never meet your hero," the movie poster's tagline reads. And if you're one of the many who already streamed this award-winning film, then you should know by now the meaning behind this famous saying. As it turns out, it's the very same advice that was given to the 24-year-old actress Charlie Dizon, whose brilliant performance as Jane, a.k.a. the obsessed teenage fan who spent an unexpected evening with her idol, earned her a Best Actress trophy.

On Instagram Stories where director Jadaone welcomed questions about Fan Girl, the director revealed that Charlie was actually prohibited from talking to her co-star Paulo in the early days of the movie's filming, in addition to not being granted an air-conditioned holding area. "[Especially] in the first days, bawal kausapin ni Charlie si Paulo. Wala rin siyang aircon tent," she said. "Fan siya dito, hindi artista."

The filmmaker explained, "So kahit in between breaks, di niya pwede tsikahin si Pau. Ewan ko kung nakatulong pero kasi para ma-preserve yung awkwardness."

These rules were apparently part of the director's greater method to help the young actress become more "instinctive" in her acting. In fact, Jadaone further revealed that Dizon was not even furnished a copy of the full script to keep her from overly studying and calculating her portrayal of the character.

"True story: I didn't give [Dizon] a copy of the full script. Kinwento ko lang sakanya ang mangyayari sa buong kwento (may kiss, may sex, may ganoong sex, may masturbation, may drugs) pero hindi ako nagbigay ng script. She only receives the script per scene, on the day she will shoot the scene," said the director, commending the young actress' notable passion for the craft and ability to adapt easily. "Buti mabilis siya mag-memorize!"

Direk Tonet added, "This is [because], I think, dahil bagong aktres siya, baka masyado siyang ma-excite at aralin nya nang bongga ang script. Which might lead to her acting being overly studied and calculated. Para mas instinctive siya mag-react."  Clearly, everything paid off in the end and Charlie Dizon is now a full-fledged Best Actress awardee!
