(SPOT.ph) Summer season may have taken a back seat this year as the quarantine restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic forced most of us to stay home. fast forward to now, local destinations are now starting to reopen, and Filipino travelers can finally enjoy the sun, sand, and surf. One of the places that are welcoming tourists once again is Siargao Island, with Sayak Airport resuming operations on December 1.

Here's what you need to know if you're traveling to Siargao Island soon:
What to Bring
- RT-PCR negative test results taken within 48 hours of travel date
- e-Health pass with valid ID
- Five-day confirmed hotel/resort booking
- Roundtrip ticket
What to Expect
- Curfew is enforced from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.
- If your RT-PCR test is taken beyond 48 hours of travel date, you will be required to take an antigen test upon arrival.
- The e-Health Pass will serve as your passport in entering any private/public office, business establishment, checkpoint, church, and other public places within Surigao del Norte.
- Face masks and face shields are required when you enter establishments.
How to Get There
- Cebu Pacific (via CebGo), SkyJet, and Philippine Airlines (via PAL Express) offer direct flights from Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 4 to Sayak Airport.
- All major airlines fly from Manila to Surigao Airport.
- The same set of documents is required from all tourists coming through either airports.
What to Do
General Luna, the municipality where most of Siargao's tourist destinations are located, reopened on November 23.
The most distinct spot in General Luna is the boardwalk right in front of Cloud 9—one of the island's many surf spots. It's the perfect place to watch the break of dawn. You may also catch early-morning surfers seeking their first wave of the day. If you want to try surfing, make sure you hire a certified instructor from Siargao Island Surfers Association.
Where to Stay
To operate, hotels and resorts are required to have a business permit, Certificate of Authority to Operate from the Department of Tourism, e-Health System Registration, e-Health Pass or QR code reader, and protocols approved by the Municipal Health Office. As of November 23, there are only six resorts in General Luna that have a Certificate of Authority to Operate.

Promo rates start at P1,000
Kermit Surf Resort houses Siargao’s longest-running surf school and camp. It is also known for their world-famous brick-oven pizza, which Condé Nast Traveler once described as "what might be the best pizza and fresh made pastas in the country.” They have a promo of P1,000 per night (exclusive of breakfast) until December 31 and a 15-day package of P15,000 for two.
