The Hobbits of Middle-earth smoke pipe-weed, ostensibly similar to tobacco but which more puckish members of the fan base have suggested is actually a variant of marijuana. Regardless of its nature, it's considered something of a vice akin to beer and ale, which the Hobbits also like to consume.
