Fortnite May Be Adding Darth Vader, Family Guy Skins | CBR

Fortnite is seemingly adding skins based on Star Wars, Family Guy and Doom.

As pointed out by an eagle-eyed fan on Twitter, the latest showcase of Unreal Engine 5 included several scenes depicting developers using the technology to design content for Fortnite. After zooming in on one of the highlighted monitors, folders seemingly named "Darth Vader," Doom" and "Family Guy" can be made out. While it's currently unknown when these content packs will eventually be added to the game, some fans speculate that Darth Vader could debut alongside the premiere of the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+. Epic Games has yet to formally issue a statement on the leak.

Fortnite has previously hosted several crossover events with Star Wars, adding skins based on characters like Rey and Finn from the Sequel Trilogy as well as The Mandalorian. While Doom has yet to be represented in Epic Game's monolithic franchise, the game does boast a Master Chief outfit based on the Halo video game series.

While Fortnite started off as a co-op third-person shooter, the game's competitive battle royale mode has taken on an identity of its own. Launched in 2017, the title is one of the most popular games in the world, spawning several significant crossovers with franchises such as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the DC Extended Universe, God of War, Naruto, Space Jam: A New Legacy and Stranger Things.

Despite being a dominant force in the video game industry for nearly five years, Fortnite shows no signs of slowing down. Epic Games recently released Chapter 3 Season 2 which controversially removed the ability to build structures, a mechanic that has largely been a pillar of the competitive scene. While the decision has proved contentious among fans, players can now make use of an "overshield" which acts as an extra means of protection in the middle of the firefight. Gamers can now also mantle over objects that are just too tall to jump over, meaning movement on the battlefield should be more layered than ever. The latest season also introduced a Battle Pass which includes skins based on Marvel characters Doctor Strange and the Prowler.

Fortnite is free-to-play and available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and mobile devices.
