New The Batman Spot Gives Insight Into Bruce and Selina's Relationship

A new TV spot for The Batman provides audiences with a little insight into the relationship between the titular Caped Crusader and Selina Kyle, better known as the enigmatic Catwoman.

The minute-long clip focuses on Batman and Catwoman, teasing the uncertainty between the two costumed characters while Selina's voice can be heard offering Bruce small hints and details about her past. There are moments of combat, moments of romance and moments in which the eccentricities and similarities between the two become clear.

Robert Pattinson's Batman has stolen the focus of much of the film's marketing. However, at least a few details about The Batman's Catwoman have come into light. Actor Zoë Kravitz discussed her upcoming character and how she distinguishes herself from previous portrayals. In a recent interview, she hinted that The Batman will better explore Catwoman and her past.

She said, "We haven't quite seen that yet. We usually meet Catwoman, and it's either a very quick transformation -- an overnight thing -- or she's already there. And so to find the emotional journey that brings her to the place where she is making the choice to be this person, is what I'm really excited about."

It's a question few of her predecessors' portrayals has answered. From Michelle Pfieffer's iconic take to that of Anne Hathaway, Catwoman has seldom been thoroughly explored and is usually kept a mystery or uncertainty in Bruce Wayne's life as a crime-fighter. Kravitz previously emphasized the fact that The Batman will avoid fetishizing Catwoman as Batman Returns, Catwoman and The Dark Knight Rises did to varying degrees.

Kravitz's description of her character seem to mirror that of Pattinson's Batman, and speaks to the unique approach Warner Bros.' new film will take with these characters. Pattinson himself previously revealed that his Bruce Wayne is not a playboy-like character in The Batman. Instead, this iteration of the character is a "weirdo."

Pattinson said, "I've definitely found a little interesting thread. He doesn't have a playboy persona at all, so he's kind of a weirdo as Bruce and a weirdo as Batman... And I kept thinking there's a more nihilistic slant to it. 'Cause, normally, in all the other movies, Bruce goes away, trains, and returns to Gotham believing in himself, thinking, I'm gonna change things here. But in this, it's sort of implied that he's had a bit of a breakdown. But this thing he's doing, it's not even working."

The Batman is scheduled to premiere on March 4.
