One Legend of Zelda fan has created a LEGO map of Hyrule to celebrate "of the best games on the original NES."
The map, which is 30 inches tall and 86 inches wide, recreates the world of Hyrule from the original Legend of Zelda action-adventure game using "25,000 [LEGO] bricks, 2,779 trees, 493 enemies." A YouTube video walks viewers through the various locations on the map with sound effects and the iconic score from the game playing in the background.
Directed by Shigeru Miyamoto and designed by Takashi Tezuka, The Legend of Zelda (originally released as The Hyrule Fantasy: Zelda no Densetsu in Japan) debuted in 1986, serving as the foundation for one of gaming culture's most popular and influential franchises. The overarching story follows the many incarnations of the hero Link, the magical Princess Zelda and the evil demon king Ganon.
Since the release of the first game, there have been 19 mainline entries across several major game consoles and a multitude of spinoffs. There have also been numerous adaptations in other mediums, including an animated TV series in 1989, several manga series and a wealth of fanmade Zelda content.
Recently, it was teased that the highly anticipated sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild may release exclusively on Nintendo Switch sometime late this year. While exact details about the game have been kept under ways since it was announced during Nintendo's E3 Direct showcase in 2019, IGN's Chief Content Officer Peer Schneider stated during an episode of the Nintendo Voice Chat podcast, "It does sound like Nintendo is going to have a pretty good year next year. So, I would not take the absence of big stuff [at The Game Awards] as a sign that maybe Breath of the Wild is delayed or that they don't have other stuff, because it sounds like... people at Nintendo are very excited about 2022."
While gamers and Legend of Zelda fans will have to wait for official news about Breath of the Wild 2, there have been multiple interesting developments in the gaming franchise. Notably, speedrunners Türkenheimer and MrCheeze discovered a glitch that allows players to overcome the challenges of the First Day Cycle in Majora's Mask by taking leveraging the name of the save file and certain in-game actions. Moreover, an old interview of Miyamoto that was recently translated into English reveals that he also finds Navi from Ocarina of Time annoying, calling her hints "unfriendly."
Many Legend of Zelda games, like Breath of the Wild, A Link to the Past and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, are available for Nintendo Switch.
