Future Diary: 5 Yandere Characters Yuno Could Beat In A Fight (& 5 She Couldn't)

Many fans often refer to Future Diary's Yuno Gasai as the "Queen of Yanderes." Yandere refers to someone with an unhealthy obsession of another person. After losing her foster parents through a series of unfortunate events, Yuno fell into despair and latched onto anything that could emotionally support her. This led her to develop an obsession with her former classmate, Yukiteru Amano.

Yuno may be the "Queen of Yanderes," but that doesn't make her the strongest there is. There are plenty of yanderes who have what it takes to beat her in a fight. With that said, there are many yanderes Yuno can defeat in a one-on-one.

10 Can Beat: Kotonoha Katsura (School Days)

Kotonoha Katsura is one of the main heroines of School Days. At the start of School Days, Kotonoha is a mild-mannered, polite, and reserved person. After her relationship with School Days' Makoto Itou, she develops into something more sinister. Ultimately, she kills Sekai for killing Makoto.

Kotonoha can likely hold her own against Yuno in close quarters combat thanks to her proficiency in martial arts. Even though Yuno is lacking the superhuman strength needed to fight Kotonoha in the long run, Yuno has fought far more people than Kotonoha. It will be Yuno's experience and passion that wins this fight.

9 Can't Beat: Rolo Lamperouge (Code Geass)

Most yanderes are motivated by their romantic feelings for a significant other. Rolo's actions are motivated by his love for his foster brother, Lelouch Lamperouge. While Rolo's mission was to spy on a brainwashed Lelouch for a year, Rolo became attached and was possessive of him. He made it his goal to keep Lelouch from reuniting with his real sister, Nunally.

Unlike Yuno, Rolo has been raised as a trained assassin since he was a kid, making him the more skilled fighter of the two. He can also use his Geass to suspend Yuno's sense of time and freeze her in place to land a fatal blow at any time.

8 Can Beat: Anna Nishikinomiya (Shimoneta)

Shimoneta's boring world is full of many characters who are anything but boring. Anna Nishikinomiya is one of them. Anna is Student Council President and respected by her peers. After kissing her childhood friend, Tanukichi Okuma, she becomes obsessive over him.

Anna may have the skill, strength, and endurance needed to challenge Yuno in a fight, but Yuno has the wits and weaponry needed to pull ahead in more scenarios. Yuno could also use her Goddess Powers to trap Anna in an illusionary universe any time she wants.

7 Can't Beat: Lucy (Elfen Lied)

Elfen Lied's Diclonius Queen, Lucy, has suffered a life of constant discrimination. As an infant, Lucy was abandoned by her parents and raised in an orphanage where other kids bullied her. Everything changed the day she met Kouta, who showed Lucy kindness and became the love of her life.

Against Lucy, there's little Yuno could do to snag a win. Her vectors are a set of arms invisible to the naked eye. With these, Lucy could phase through Yuno's body and rip out any organ without her noticing. Her vectors can also grow to a size big enough to eclipse entire islands, giving Lucy the power needed to crush Yuno.

6 Can Beat: Megumi Shimizu (Shiki)

Before she was a Shiki, Megumi Shimizu grew up in a small isolated town in rural Japan and longed to move to the city. She develops feeling for a villager named Natsuno Koide and dreams about being with him. Before she could achieve her dream, Megumi is killed and later revived as a Shiki, a reanimated corpse that feeds on the blood of others.

A Shiki like Megumi may possess greater strength than your average human, but so does Yuno. Yuno can chop through the entire human body with a single sword swing. Yuno has also been in fights against serial killers, assassins, and terrorists whereas Megumi has rarely had to fight anybody.

5 Can't Beat: Griffith (Berserk)

Berserk's main antagonist was once a poor child who grew up in the slums. Griffith dreamed of obtaining a kingdom of his own. Years later, he would form a band of mercenaries and become one of the greatest heroes his country had ever seen. After the departure of his best friend, Guts, Griffith would descend into madness and transform into a ruthless demon that will do whatever it takes to achieve his dreams.

Yuno may be a God of space-time, but there's little she can do to defeat the Falcon of Light. Yuno has fought in two survival games. But, Griffith has fought and ended a war that lasted for a century through his intellect and combat prowess, making him the more skilled of the two. As a being of divine properties, fate itself is on Griffith's side, making it unlikely Yuno could hit him with anything the collective unconscious doesn't desire.

4 Can Beat: Satou Matsuzaka (Happy Sugar Life)

All Satou Matsuzaka wants to do in her life is protect her sugar love, Shio Kobe. After meeting an abandoned Shio in an alleyway, Satou let her live in her apartment and became obsessed with her. Satou will do anything to protect her, even if it means killing her former best friend. Satou and Yuno are very dedicated to the people they love. Yuno has proven that she's capable of holding her own in a fight, unlike Satou. Yuno is a God that can create universes out of thin air, but Satou is just a normal girl with no superhuman attributes.

3 Can't Beat: Toko Fukawa (Danganronpa)

Toko Fukawa might be Hope Peak Academy's Ultimate Writing Prodigy, but she is also one of Japan's most dangerous serial killers. Her split personality, Genocide Jack, got a reputation after killing approximately 37 victims. During the first killing game, she developed feelings for the Ultimate Affluent Progeny, Byakuya Togami.

The world of Danganronpa tends to be more over-the-top than Future Diary, so it's no surprise that Toko has the stats needed to beat Yuno in a fight. Toko can dodge EM Waves, which move at the speed of light, and take down enemies as big as Big Bang Monokuma. It would be easy for Toko to beat Yuno.

2 Can Beat: Shion Sonozaki (Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni)

Before Yuno Gasai became the Queen of Yanderes, Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni's Shion Sonozaki was a contender for that title. After believing the Hinamizawa Village's Three Houses were responsible for the disappearance of her beloved Satoshi Hojo, Shion went on a rampage and killed those she believed to be responsible for his disappearance.

Shion is a dangerous individual, but Yuno beats her in most categories. Both are even in intellect, but Yuno tends to be more observant and has a better track record strategizing mid-fight than Shion does. Yuno has a better display of fighting skills throughout Future Diary whereas Shion does little to no fighting in most timelines.

1 Can't Beat: Satoko Hojo (Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni)

Shion Sonozaki isn't the only yandere character in the Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni franchise. Satoko's love for her best friend, Rika Furude, caused her to descend into madness and slowly transformed her into a powerful witch.

While Yuno is a more skilled and strategic combatant, she has no way of putting Satoko down for good. Satoko has looper powers, which means she can repeat her battles with Yuno as many times as she wants until she gets a fatal blow. With Hanyuu's sword in her hands, Satoko can channel enough power that Rika claims can trigger a Big Bang, granting her more than enough power to take Yuno out.
