Attack on Titan Cosplay: Post-Timeskip Mikasa Suits Up for Battle

Attack on Titan's Mikasa Ackerman and her complex set of maneuvering gear are recreated in a new cosplay.

Cosplayer and artist Colette, who uses the screen name vamplettes on Instagram, posted their take on the popular Special Operations Squad member. The costume features a recreation of the complex anti-personnel vertical maneuvering equipment, the latest version of the 3D-maneuvering equipment that was previously used by the Survey Corps. to hunt titans. The outfit comes complete with compressed gas canister that powers the suit, as well as Mikasa's trademark red scarf.

More of Colette's cosplay can be seen on their Instagram profile. The talented cosplayer has portrayed multiple characters from Attack on Titan, including the Survey Corps.' head researcher and eventual commander, Hange Zoe, as well as Annie Leonhardt in her titan form. They have also portrayed a variety of characters from other manga and comics, including Nel from Tite Kubo's Bleach, and Psylocke from Marvel's X-Men series.

Mikasa will play a key role in the events of Attack on Titan: The Final Season - Part 2. The last batch of episodes in the series began airing on Jan. 9. A market research firm recently named the season the most in-demand TV series of the year, a trait which was thoroughly demonstrated when the first episode of this half-season was released and subsequently temporarily brought down the servers for anime streaming service Crunchyroll. The Final Season - Part 2 will adapt all of the remaining chapters of Hajime Isayama's original manga, which came to a divisive conclusion in early 2021.

Attack on Titan was created by Isayama in 2009. The series was originally rejected by Japan's premier manga publication, Weekly Shonen Jump, but Isayama ended up getting the last laugh as the series is now one of the most commercially successful manga of all time, with over 100 million copies in circulation worldwide. The anime adaptation premiered in 2014 and was originally produced by Wit Studio (Ranking of Kings, Vivy: Fluorite Eyes' Song) but production was unexpectedly moved over to studio MAPPA (Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuri!! on Ice) for the series' fourth and final season. Past seasons of the anime are available on a variety of streaming services, including Crunchyroll and Funimation. The complete manga series is now available in English from Kodansha USA.
