Lea Salonga Expresses Her Apology After Discovering The Truth Behind Viral Deped Module

Lea Salonga issued an apology on Saturday after slamming the Department of Education (DepEd) over a learning module.

 

Salonga made headlines a few days ago after she shared on Facebook a photo of a page from a module that asked a question regarding tattoo last November 16.

 

According to the images that Lea posted, the DepEd’s answer key allegedly indicated that the tattoo is a “symbol” of being a criminal.

 

 

 

But despite of her apparent disappointment, Lea, nonetheless, requested for a full copy of the page for context on the tattoo module.

“Can someone upload a photo of the full, unedited sheet? That whole LETTER A thing covers the rest of it, and we need some context,”

 

 

A few day later things seemed to have calmed down a bit for the “The Voice Philippines” coach. She said on her post that she already received a copy of the full context of the viral module.

Lea stated that a concerned individual sent a complete text of the said module and expressed her relief discovering the correct answer.

 

 

“Thanks to a direct message (you have my sincerest thanks… you know who you are) sent to me, turns out that the context of that page was such: the discussion was on Philippine History and on the significance of tattoos in our culture.”

“The correct answer was C, that tattoos were a symbol of beauty and courage. Not A, that tats are a sign of being a criminal.”

 

 

Lea then noted that somebody is intently making this “scene” to cast “someone” in a negative light.

“So, in my amateur opinion, someone out there wants to make someone else look incompetent.”

“Covering up a big part of the page and making it look like the answer key was marking the wrong letter as correct,”

Lea then said sorry over her earlier reaction on the module.”

 

 

In the last part, Lea conveyed her regret over her previous post stating that like any other parent, she just wants the best education for the chidren.

“For my part in this, allow me to apologize. I just want for our kids to get as good an education as they can get. As for the saboteur, there’s a special place in hell for the likes of you.”
